Arlene began this journey with the Canadian Men’s Chorus in January 2010 as Founding Patron and General Manager. A former secondary school English and Dramatic Arts teacher, Arlene holds a B.A. (Honours English and Drama) and a B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario.
She is also an ARCT (Honours Vocal Performance) with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Career highlights include directing an original student-written musical at A.B. Lucas Secondary School in London, Ontario and a concert production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the American School in Mexico City. Over the years, Arlene has performed with choirs in Ontario and Mexico, including the Etobicoke Centennial Choir under Barry Gosse, the Gerald Fagan Singers under Gerald Fagan and currently she is the Music Librarian and chorister with the Orpheus Choir of Toronto under Robert Cooper.
She has worked as properties coordinator for Scarborough Music Theatre (“Gypsy”, “Nine”) and Acting Up Stage Company (“Elegies”, “A Man of No Importance”, “A New Brain” “Light in the Piazza”). Arlene served on the Board of Directors for the British Columbia Girls Choir (Fiona Blackburn, AD) and Driftwood Theatre Company (Jeremy Smith, AD) and is currently a Director with Acting Up Stage Company (Mitchell Marcus, AD). As General Manager of the Canadian Men's Chorus, she is delighted to have the opportunity to share in the excitement and challenge inherent in growing a new arts organization.
