Arlene began this journey with the Canadian Men’s Chorus in January 2010 as Co-Founder, Founding Patron and General Manager. A retired secondary school English and Dramatic Arts teacher, Arlene holds a B.A. (Honours English and Drama) and a B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario.
She is also an ARCT (Honours Vocal Performance) with the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Over the years, Arlene has performed with choirs in Ontario and Mexico, including the Etobicoke Centennial Choir under Barry Gosse, the Gerald Fagan Singers and the Bach Festival Choir under Gerald Fagan and the Orpheus Choir of Toronto under Robert Cooper. Currently she is a chorister with the Grand Philharmonic Choir, Mark Vuorinen, Artistic Director, in Kitchener-Waterloo.
Arlene has served on the Board of Directors for the British Columbia Girls Choir (Fiona Blackburn, AD), Driftwood Theatre Company (Jeremy Smith, AD) and Acting Up Stage Company (Mitchell Marcus, AD). Currently she is a Director on the Board of PAL Place Stratford, an organization that provides a safety net for members of the arts community who find themselves in need both during and at the end of careers that can be uncertain and insecure. As Executive Director of the Canadian Men's Chorus, she is delighted to have the opportunity to share in the excitement and challenge inherent in growing a new arts organization.
